If you use QuickBooks Online (QBO) on a Mac, there’s an app for that, and you can click here to get it.
It’s almost exactly like QBO through Safari or Chrome, but because it works as a desktop application, it’s a little faster. You still need a QBO subscription, and an internet connection.
The app stores pages in memory so you don’t have to reload each one. It adds a menu bar at the top for quick access to any screen. My favorite feature is the Favorites, so you can jump right into a new Invoice or the Banking screen.
I’m an Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and I like that I can also jump from client to client from a dropdown menu.
However, I did have an issue where eventually, the program crashed every time I tried to switch companies. After a Force Quit, the program would open right up into the company I wanted. But after some time, even that didn’t work anymore, and the program became unusable.
The fix was easy, once I knew how:
- Quit QBO.
- Hold down the Fn (function) key and open it again.
- It will ask if you want to Reset the app. Click the Reset button.
- Open the app again. Violá! You’re back in business.
So there you go! Happy QuickBooksing!
